Commentary on the case Brein versus ING

Recently Stichting Brein asked the court to order ING to provide the name and address details of authorized representatives on a certain account number held with ING. Brain has become familiar with the account number because it is referred to on a website of FTD World, the alleged infringing party. Tax and Customs Administration provokes privacy violation

April 1st, the date on which the income tax return should ideally be received by the tax authorities. The information that a citizen enters with tax declarations helps the tax authorities to determine and impose their various levies. All kinds of data of the taxpayer are important here. Consider, for example, address, payment, residence, travel and even parking data. Without this personal information, the Tax and Customs Administration is not well able to carry out its duties properly.
